This SOS-Torture Burundi report covers the period from 29 August to 5 September 2026. It documents cases of human rights violations committed on Burundian territory.
During this period, two (2) people were murdered and one (1) other was seriously injured in Gitega province.
The resurgence and recurrence of criminal activity in Gitega province continue to raise serious concerns regarding respect for human rights. This situation is particularly worrying in light of the previous report, which documented the killing of five (5) people in the provinces of Bujumbura and Gitega provinces, as well as the arbitrarily arrest of six (6) other individuals by police in Gitega province.
