Weekly report N° 563
This SOS-Torture Burundi report covers the period from 20 to 27 September 2026. It documents cases of human rights violations committed on Burundian territory.
During this period, one (1) person was seriously injured in Bujumbura province, while other person (1) was arbitrarily arrested in Buhumuza province, in the context of a widespread persecution targeting the Banyamulenge community living in Burundi.
These new cases are in addition to those documented in the previous report, which reported five (5) violations of the right to physical integrity and two (2) arbitrary arrests in the province of Bujumbura, against the Banyamulenge community.

This report by SOS-Torture Burundi covers the period from 13 to 20 September 2026. It documents cases of human rights violations committed on Burundian territory.
During this period, five (5) people were seriously injured in Bujumbura province and two (2) others were arbitrarily arrested in the same province in the context of a widespread persecution directed against the Banyamulenge community living in Burundi
These arbitrary arrests and detentions attributed to agents of the National Intelligence Service (SNR) raise deep concerns about the respect of the right to life and security of the victims.
These new cases are in addition to those documented in the previous report, which reported three (3) arbitrary arrests, in circumstances comparable to kidnappings in Bujumbura province.

During this period, five (5) people were seriously injured in Bujumbura province and two (2) others were arbitrarily arrested in the same province in the context of a widespread persecution directed against the Banyamulenge community living in Burundi.

This SOS-Torture Burundi report covers the period from 29 August to 5 September 2026. It documents cases of human rights violations committed on Burundian territory.
During this period, two (2) people were murdered and one (1) other was seriously injured in Gitega province.
The resurgence and recurrence of criminal activity in Gitega province continue to raise serious concerns regarding respect for human rights. This situation is particularly worrying in light of the previous report, which documented the killing of five (5) people in the provinces of Bujumbura and Gitega provinces, as well as the arbitrarily arrest of six (6) other individuals by police in Gitega province.
